What’s new in DocuFreezer 7.0
Enhanced OCR
- Faster OCR performance: Multitasking with SIMD optimization is now enabled by default (OCR SIMD: Yes), delivering faster image decoding and processing for text recognition (Note: Available for 64-bit Windows systems only)
- Improved accuracy with noise removal: The new OCR noise removal feature (OCR remove noise: Yes) reduces artifacts in scanned images for cleaner text recognition
- New OCR languages: Korean and Arabic
- Fixed PDF rotation issue: Corrected an issue where rotated PDF pages affected OCR accuracy
New features
- Redesigned Advanced Settings tab interface featuring improved search speed and a tree-based structure for better UI and easier navigation
- Added new Grayscale operation (with adjustable image dithering) offering two modes: 256 shades of gray and Black and white
- CAD to PDF conversion: ability to use eDrawings Viewer to convert CAD drawings (DXF, DWG) to PDF if Microsoft Print to PDF printer is installed
- New Excel file loading settings allowing to show/hide gridlines, headers, and change page orientation when converting XLS/XLSX/CSV files
- Downscaling shapes to fit page size: DocuFreezer can automatically shrink large embedded images in Outlook EML, MSG, and Word files if they exceed the page size
- New ability to convert multiple Outlook PST messages with the same subject. To ensure that multiple message files having the same subject are successfully converted, turn off the setting Unique content in file list (Settings → Advanced → Unique content in file list: No)
- Option to select code page for output TXT files — including Unicode (UTF-8), Unicode (Big-Endian), US-ASCII, or other formats (Advanced Settings → Output formats → TEXT → Code page) and include a Byte Order Mark (BOM) at the beginning of the text file (Write BOM)
- Quickly verify whether you're using the latest version — now you can click the DocuFreezer logo on the program's main window and choose Check for updates…
- Backward compatibility — now you can load Settings INI-files created in older DocuFreezer versions
Macros
- New file modification date and time macros: {SrcFileDate} (Source file last write date), {SrcFileTime} (Source file last write time)
- Fixed behavior of the {ContainerName} macro when used in output folder paths
Watermarking
- New PDF Text annotation operation as an alternative to a regular Text watermark. It can speed up the processing, since it doesn't need document re-rendering and reduces file size increase. This operation is available for PDF documents only
- New ability to apply Bates numbering either as a Text watermark or in output filenames
- New ability to set Text watermark offset dimensions: Centimeter (cm), Millimeter (mm), Inch (in)
- Fixed application of Russian or Chinese text as a source for QR-code Barcode watermark
Updated components for better file processing
- Improved components for processing Microsoft Excel and Word files
New supported formats
- Lotus Word Pro Document LWP (.lwp) files (via OpenOffice engine)
- Comic book file CBR and CBZ (.cbr, .cbz)
